Pump Operations - Dupont
11/3/2009
Several members along w Engine 112 took part in a Pump I class sponsored by the Dupont FD. Members attended class on Saturday with Sunday
being all field work. The class is designed to familiarize members with pump operations, hydraulics, and flow capabilities.
An Afternoon of Rope Training
5/3/2009
Sunday afternoon found several members of the 112 Rescue hanging out over the Springbrook Creek in Moosic Borough. Along
with members of several area departments, crews setup systems to practice their high angle rope skills.
Much of the gang tried their hand at being lowered and simulating a victim rescue. The crews plan on getting back together
in a few weeks to complete more simulated rescues, this time featuring our very own "Rescue Randy". Lunch will be provided, which
should guarantee a good turn out.
3 Generations of Dept. Chiefs
While not sure of the year this photo was taken, we do know that the photo captures three generations of department chiefs.
Pictured from left: Harry Spencer, Ray West, Kevin Odell(President) and Chris VanLuvender, Jr. (Current Dept Chief).
Thanks to Terry Sherman for sharing this photo with us.
Older Pics Recently Found
While looking for some files on the department's computer, we located a host of pictures from some incidents that occurred several
years ago. The photo above captures the end result of a one car crash at the corner of McAlpine & Gedding Sts. The passenger in this
vehicle had his right arm pinned between the seat and door, suffering extensive injuries. Rescue 112 handled the extrication,
while Dupont & Duryea Engines assisted w hazard control and landing zone operations respectively.
We also located some photos from the first fire at the Hillshade Lamp Factory in Old Forge. This would be the first of three fires
to strike the former manufacturing facility. Additional photos include two Avoca structure fires, vehicle fires, and car accidents. Short descriptions
are included with each set of photos. Click to view the
photos.
